What Insurance Companies do you provide service for?
Kerr’s Auto Body has excellent working relations with all major insurance companies to get your vehicle back to it’s original condition.

We also assist major insurance companies with their DRP (Direct Repair Programs). If you are insured with one of these companies, we handle everything from the estimate, photos, rental car set up, repairs to delivery.


Must I obtain three estimates?

No, choosing a repair facility based on an amount of an initial estimate is the worst way to begin to get your vehicle repaired. You should base you decision on how thorough and professionally the personnel handle your situation. Always remember that the objective of repairing your car after a collision is to restore it to pre-accident condition.

 

I was told that I must take my car to a certain repair shop. Must I do this?

No, it’s your car and you can choose where it is repaired.

 

Who is responsible to pay the repair shop for my repair bill – the insurance company or me?

You are responsible for the cost of repairs, but we have relationships with most insurers where we will accept the amount that they are willing to pay as full payment for the repair. Deductible and betterment charges (if any) are always the responsibility of the vehicle owner.

 

Who’s responsible for the safety, workmanship and guarantee of my repairs, insurance company or repair shop?

The repair shop is ultimately responsible. Many insurance companies stand behind our work with nationwide warranties through our direct repair relationships.

 

Do I have to take my vehicle to a drive-in claims service?

No. If the responsible insurance company needs to see the vehicle before authorizing payment of the claim, take the vehicle to your chosen repair facility and have them negotiate with the insurer on your behalf.

 

If I go to a drive-in claims service, do I have to take the car to its preferred shop?

No. The repairer is always your choice. Although there may be some advantages to going where the insurance company sends you, make sure that the shop is reputable before allowing repairs to begin.

 

Can the insurance company and service shop make an adjustment and start repair on the auto without the owner’s consent?

No. It is your car, and only you can authorize the repair. Remember, you are who is ultimately responsible for payment.

 

Where do I obtain a claim number?

Claim numbers are issued by your insurance company at the time you report your accident. Write it down and bring it in with you when you come in to begin the repair process.

 

I have a deductible on my insurance policy, to whom do I pay the deductible?

If your deductible is not waived, it will be your responsibility to pay Kerr’s Auto Body when you pick up your vehicle. If you aren’t sure about your deductible, you can call your insurance agent, they should be able to tell you whether your insurance company has waived your deductible or whether it will be your responsibility.

 

Are you open on Saturdays?

No, our normal business hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Friday 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

 

Can I get other services done on my car while it in the body repair shop?

Yes! Discuss any additional service requests with our service advisor so that he or she can make the necessary arrangements to have services coincide with repair.

 

How long will the repairs take?

Our Service Advisor will give you an estimate of the time it will take to complete the repairs to your vehicle. Estimation of time depends on extent of car damage. Be sure to check with your advisor for the specifics on your vehicle.

 

Can I get a ride home when I drop off my car?

Yes. We want your visit to be a positive experience. We provide a pickup, as well as delivery service.

 

Do you provide towing?

Yes, we partner with Ghelarducci Towing to provide this service to our customers.

 

Do you provide a rental car if needed?

Yes. We can arrange a vehicle through Enterprise’s convenient local location. Enterprise will bring the rental car to you, the customer, when you drop your vehicle off at our shop for repairs.

 

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, money order, Visa, Master Card, and Discover Card.

 

What are Betterment Charges?

Parts that commonly wear out and need replacement with time and usage are commonly subject to betterment charges when they are replaced during the repair process. Some examples of such parts are tires, batteries, and suspension parts. These betterment charges are determined by your insurance company and are pro-rated based on actual miles on your vehicle.

 

Can I wash my car after a new paint repair?

Yes, you may wash your car. Below are some recommendations to protect the early stages of your new repair:

  • Wash the vehicle by hand with fresh cool water, apply only a very mild car detergent solution using a soft cloth or sponge. Washing your vehicle in the shade is a plus.
  • Do not use a commercial car wash.
  • Do not use stiff brushes or sponges, they can mar the finish and damage the surface.
  • Do not wax or polish the vehicle within 90 days. This will allow the finish to dry and harden completely.
  • Do not “dry wipe” your vehicle. Dry wiping can scratch the finish.
  • Do not drive on gravel roads or recently chipped roads. Chipping the finish is easily done in the first 30 days after your repair.
  • Avoid parking under trees and utility lines which are likely to attract birds. Bird droppings have a high acid content and will damage a freshly painted surface. Also, tree sap can mar or spot a freshly painted surface.
  • Do not overfill your gas tank, spilled gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, or windshield solvent on the new finish may cause damage.
  • Do not apply tools to scrape ice or snow from the newly painted surface.
